My little pony tattoo :)
The quote is from the song “23” by Jimmy Eat World. I’ve always been a fan of the band (mostly of their older work such as Clarity and Bleed American.) I’ve come to find that my memories, feelings, and emotions have been documented and portrayed in a lot of their songs- especially on the albums previously mentioned. JEW has not only accomplished this lyrically but through their melodies as well. This particular song, however, has always been the most significant to me. I’ve never heard a lyric that has described something that I’ve felt so deeply in my soul for so long.
Tattoo artist is Cam McDaniel located at Lucky Tattoo in Fenton Michigan.
I got this tattoo because my grandfather had a bunch of tattoos. He had 2 anchors, both on his feet. He was a sailor and was always in love with anchors for some reason. I got the tattoo basically for him. Every time I look done at it, I’ll think of him. I got the “I refuse to sink” in the banner to remind myself to never let myself sink, to never give up or give in to peer pressure. I am in love with it and so happy with it. I got it done at Quillian by Patrick Simmons in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
Last summer my bestie and I took a road trip to CO to see the Avett Brothers in concert in Boulder and Red Rocks. It was one of the most awesome and beautiful trips I’ve ever taken. While in Denver we thought we might get a tattoo commemorate the trip, but not knowing any local artists, and not having a whole lot of extra time to do the tattoos we put it off til later.
This last January we finally made our appointment. Mel D of Inkjunkies in Tulsa, OK has done work on both of us before, and he is always great. She got a birdcage on her arm (to match the lyrics in Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise), and I got this bit of lyrics from Laundry Room.
Also, yes, tattoos on your feet fucking hurt.
This my first tattoo that I got about 2 weeks ago in Las Vegas over vacation with my mum. We had to find a place that would ink at 16, because most places where I live don’t do that. I got ” Have Hope ” on my wrists because I’ve been through quite alot and thought that just reminding myself that there is still is hope in the world is enough to help me make it through tough times, :3
